Since we are on the man with the dark glasses, let’s discuss his daughter Kanhimozhi a little. She is a little troubled with her king and has approached Pranab da about the same. She told him, “Until now, no one has been dropped from a ministry based on a CAG report, and yet, opposition parties are after our family. Sometimes they ask us to oust Balu, sometimes they tell us to get Maran out and now it’s Raja.” But Pranab da hasn’t given her any convincing support and has told her that the party will have to do something under so much pressure.

But since Suhel Seth organized a dinner party in honour of Amitabh Bachhan receiving a National Award, Mamta Banerjee seems to be annoyed with him. She had made Suhel the head of a railway committee and he has promised to deliver a lot on how new contracts and mediums will be found for advertisements in railways, how the ministry will bring out a new magazine to make didi more popular and so on. But he hasn’t delivered on any of the accounts. And now that he’s finding other political footholds, didi’s concerned, and annoyed.

When the top man of a government is being named in corruption charges, its minister and members can be easily sold and bought. So why this noise if it is suspected that the Raj Bhavan may have a hand in the conspiracy to topple the government? Congress have given the entire responsibility of toppling the government of Kumaraswamy, son of former Prime Minister Deve Gowda. The party has also clarified to Kumaraswamy that if the Yedurappa government falls, the chief minister will be from the Congress, who will be supported by the JD(S). Kumaraswamy may not be getting the CM’s post in this, but is getting everything else – just like the Deve Gowda family wanted it. The names of S M Krishna and Veerappa Moily are being suggested as the next chief minister. The best part of this is that Kumaraswamy has the blessings of a top BJP leader for this entire part – the leader’s only aim is to make money.

At last, no consensus was reached for the name of the chief information commissioner. Wajahat Habeebullah retired from the post yesterday. Anirudh Narayan Tiwari, the next CIS, will hold the post for merely two months and 12 days. The government itself couldn’t come to a consensus about the new CIS. The PM and the government wanted to have a bureaucrat in the position. But Sonia Gandhi-backed National Advisory Committee wanted someone from the civil society for the post. Harsh Mandar and Aruna Roy were contenders for the post. Rai believes she is solely responsible for the RTI Act in India. The role of the RTI Act is to bring government mechanism’s discrepancies to the fore, whereas an IAS officer would normally cover the issue. In such a scenario, Habib Ansari’s name was suggested, but Habibullah himself objected to his name. Opposition leader Sushma Swaraj was also against it. Tiwari was thus superseded and made the CIS for a short while. The question still remains – who will be the next CIS? A retired bureaucrat or someone from the civil society? The decision rests with 10 Janpath.
