Upheaval in Uttarakhand

Posted on 26 July 2011 by admin

The fights within the Uttarakhand Congress Committee have come on the streets now. There is a mighty tussle going on between Congress President Yashpal Arya and State prabhari Virendra Singh over 31 posts in the working Committee. Both of them want their own people to be in the unit and the matter has reached such heights that it will soon be placed before 10, Janpath.

Extreme intelligence machinery

Posted on 18 July 2011 by admin

After the Sohrabuddin and Ishrat Jahan issue, what is the problem that seems to be plaguing intelligence? If some information does find its way to us, (sometimes with the assistance of the US and sometimes through police interrogation), necessary action isn’t taken. A prominent source associated with the intelligence revealed, “What can we do? For some time, case after case has been slapped on our police officers and they are being put behind bars while the terrorists are roaming free. They are getting a lot of support from those in politics. In the Punjab jail alone, 438 police officials are behind bars, and the numbers are larger in Gujarat jails. Until there is enough need from the politicians to battle terrorism, things will be as they are.”

The miracle of Mallu lobby

Posted on 03 July 2011 by admin

The biggest miracle by the Mallu lobby was Ranjan Mathai’s becoming the country’s new foreign secretary, who is currently the Indian ambassador in France. The most surprising bit is that Mathai has never been posted to any neighbouring country, but his current appointment at a powerful position as that of a foreign secretary is a reflection of the Mallu lobby’s clout. This was something that irked 10, Janpath. While the names in the race for the post included Vivek Katju, Sharad Sabharwal and Hardeep Puri, but because Puri had expressed a desire to contest elections on a BJP ticket from Delhi, his name was already struck off. In terms of capabilities, Katju was better because his role as the Indian ambassador in Afghanistan had been commendable.

BSP conned

Posted on 23 May 2011 by admin

The BSP had suspected that the delegation with whom Rahul Gandhi was going to the PM to give a report about Bhatta-Parsaul may include an alleged farmer leader and a rogue Manveer Singh Tevatiya, who has a prize of Rs 50,000 on his head. So the UP police was present there in civilian clothes, the entire matter was being handled by BJP government minister Lashmi Narayan. The party felt that if Tevatiya is nabbed, Rahul’s ambitions will be quelled but when Rahul went to meet the PM, his small delegation didn’t have Tevatiya or the whiff of him.

Who after Kani?

Posted on 23 May 2011 by admin

The hurricane comes closer, so close that you don’t need binoculars to spot it, because naked eyes are as real as naked dreams. After the arrest of Kanhimozhi, which way does the 2G fire point to? It is believed that the Pawar family may be the next one to be singed by it. The Shahid Balwa connection is becoming a thorn in the side for Pawar. His daughter Supriya Sule and son-in-law Sadanand Sule may be next. Next could well be Niira Radia, Anil Ambani and Tata, too.

Blowing in the wind

Posted on 15 May 2011 by admin

But the Congress and its leaders will not let go off this Rahul Gandhi incident so easily. To aid Congress’ intentions, several PILs will be produced before the court. These cases are already in the court so it is possible that some PIL may come and join a case that is already being processed in the court.

Politics at the centre will change

Posted on 15 May 2011 by admin

With the Vidhan Sabha election results out for five states, the politics at the centre is rife with new alliances and possibilities. With whispers of Kanimozhi’s possible arrest, a new, unproven news is doing the rounds in the haze of Delhi politics. It is that Karuna’s son Azhaigri has given his resignation from the central Cabinet, and now there is speculation that the ministers from the DMK quota may bid adieu to the Manmohan government at any time. The black-sunglasses clad baba is seriously mulling whether the DMK government should give external support to the UPA government? This is the moot question that is making the Congress managers frown.

The big O

Posted on 08 May 2011 by admin

The BJP core group meeting was on in Delhi and discussions were on about the Karnataka trouble and about the possibility of a change of guard from Yeddyurappa. There would also have been some discussions about UP, but the Osama bin Laden incident happened and the entire meeting was all about him thereafter.
