अपने तमाम सियासी आग्रहों व दुराग्रहों के बावजूद मीडिया हाउस में किसी भी चुनाव के नतीजों को लेकर ऐसा उत्साह शायद ही कभी देखने को मिला हो। मोदीनीत एनडीए गठबंधन जब 335 सीटों की अप्रत्याशित जीत के आंकड़े को छूने लगा तो कई न्यूज़ चैनलों के स्टूडियो, पीसीआर, इनपुट, आउटपुट व टेक्नीक्ल विभागों में जश्न का माहौल दिखने लगा। मिठाइयां और लड्डू बंटे, लोगों ने एक-दूसरे के गले लगा कर बधाइयां दीं, जैसे यह सिर्फ मोदी की नहीं, देश की जीत हो।

सीमांध्र में नरेंद्र मोदी का साथ तेदेपा सुप्रीमो चंद्रबाबू नायडू के लिए एक वरदान साबित हुआ। ग्रामीण आंध्र के इलाकों में मोदी की लोकप्रियता का यह आलम था कि यहां की अधिकांश ग्रामीण महिलाओं ने राजनैतिक दलों के कार्यकर्ताओं से पहले ही दोटूक कह दिया था कि उनके वोट सिर्फ मोदी के लिए हैं। चुनांचे तेदेपा कार्यकर्ताओं-नेताओं को मोदी व चंद्रबाबू के साथ की तस्वीर गांव-गांव घूमकर प्रदर्शित करनी पड़ी तब कहीं जाकर इस दफे के चुनाव में तेदेपा इतनी सीटों का आंकड़ा छू पाई।

बनारस एयरपोर्ट का नज़ारा भी इन दिनों कम दिलचस्प नहीं दिखा, शाम होते न होते यहां बाबतपुर हवाई अड्डïे पर दर्जनों छोटे-बड़े हेलिकॉप्टरों की लाइन लगनी शुरू हो जाती है, अलग-अलग दलों के नेता-नेत्रीगण दिन भर की भाग दौड़, भाषण बाजी और रोड-शो के बाद शाम को अपने-अपने बसेरों में लौटने की उतनी ही जल्दी में होते हैं, जैसे शाम ढ़लने के बाद पंक्षी अपने घोंसलों में लौटने की जद्दोजहद में हों। आज़मगढ़, मिजऱ्ापुर, जौनपुर, गाज़ीपुर, डुमरियागंज, चंदौली, महाराजगंज, व गोरखपुर चुनाव प्रचार के लिए जाने वाले नेताओं के हेलिकॉप्टर यहीं बनारस एयरपोर्ट से ही उड़ान भरते थे, चुनांचे जो नेतागण जनता के बीच एक-दूसरे के खिलाफ आग उगल रहे होते थे, जब यहां एयरपोर्ट पर उनका आमना-सामना होता है तो वे क्या गजब की आत्मीयता से एक दूसरे से मिलते थे, जैसे बरसों के बिछड़े परिजन आपस में मिल रहे हों। सो, वो चाहे मुलायम हों, मोदी, अखिलेश, मायावती या राहुल नाम या दल में क्या रखा है।

क्रांतिकारी विचारधारा के अरविन्द केजरीवाल ज़ाहिरा तौर पर खुद को कई बार नास्तिकों की श्रेणी में शुमार करवा चुके हैं, पर क्या यह महज़ इत्तफाक है कि चुनाव के ऐन वक्त उन्हें दुश्मन की नली तोडऩे के लिए बजरंगबली याद आ जाते हैं। दिल्ली विधानसभा चुनाव के दौरान भी केजरीवाल ने अपना कार्यालय दिल्ली के कनॉट प्लेस के प्रसिद्घ हनुमान मंदिर के एकदम पीछे बनाया। कहा जाता है कि वे अक्सर हनुमान मंदिर में शीश नवाने के बाद ही अपने दिन की शुरूआत करते थे, वाराणसी में भी उन्होंने अपना निवास वहां के प्रसिद्घ संकट मोचन मंदिर के पीछे रखा है। कहते हैं केजरीवाल के पूज्य पिताश्री कहीं न कहीं संघ की मूल विचारधारा के प्रशंसक रहे हैं, सो केजरीवाल की पूरी राजनैतिक शैली भी कहीं न कहीं संघ से अभिप्रेरित जान पड़ती है। संघ के तजऱ् पर ही वाराणसी में केजरीवाल का सारा ध्यान जनसंपर्क अभियान पर रहा, उनके 5 हजार से ज्यादा कार्यकत्र्ता घर-घर जाकर वोट मांग रहे थे। बनारस के मुस्लिम मतदाताओं में करीब 75 फीसदी आबादी अंसारी वोटरों की है, उन्हें अभिप्रेरित करने का जिम्मा केजरीवाल ने शाजि़या इल्मी को सौंपा था, जो अपने कट्टïरपंथी बयानों के लिए पहले भी चर्चा में रह चुकी हैं।

पिछले कुछ दिनों से, सामाजिक मीडिया, विशेष रूप से WhatsApp में राउंड कर रही है कि एक मजाक है, भगवान का शुक्र है! “फेसबुक और WhatsApp अमेरिकी कंपनियों रहे हैं. वरना अब तक सरकार राजीव गांधी दोस्त बनाओ योजना ‘के लिए इसका नाम बदल दिया होता!

It was almost sure that Varanasi’s royal descendant Anant Narayan Singh’s uncle’s son Aribhushan Singh would contest the elections from Varanasi on the SP ticket. But the minute Modi’s name appeared from Varanasi, he met Akhilesh and Netaji and turned down the offer of contesting from Varanasi. Actually, several close friends of Aribhushan seriously believed that at present the public was extremely annoyed with the SP and in such a scenario, he should exercise caution about agreeing to take a bicycle ride. Thus, at the last moment, Aribhushan thought it advisable to not contest the elections. 

Modi will keep an eye on his colleagues in the Cabinet. Also on his priority will be foreign issues regarding the country. As a prime minister, Modi’s day will begin with an important meeting with six-seven people in the morning of which the chiefs of IB, RAW, NIA, the heads of all three forces and advisor on national security may be present. While on one hand Modi will stress upon having good bilateral ties with China, a clear change will be seen in India’s foreign policy with the US. India’s attitude towards the US may be a little strained but many US-supporting economists may get a place in Modi’s kitchen-Cabinet. Reserve Bank of India’s Raghuram Rajan might play a significant role here. Relations with Pakistan will also be a tad strained and the country might get it back when the time comes.

If the Congress can’t reach even the 100 mark in these elections, three people in Rahul’s team will be held responsible – Jairam Ramesh, Mohan Rakesh and Madhusudan Mistry.

Sensing the change of guard in Delhi, Arun Shourie has again shifted base from Pune to Delhi. It is worth mentioning that about four-five years ago, Shourie had shifted to Pune’s Lavasa City. His lunch with Narendra Modi had also grabbed headlines when Modi had visited him in his Lavasa City residence for some important discussions. Arun Shourie was upset with the BJP about a few things and in his position as BJP President, Nitin Gadkari had made many efforts and had, to an extent, succeeded in pacifying Shourie to a significant extent. So this much is clear that if this election results mean there is a BJP-led government at the Centre, Arun Shourie may get a prominent place in it. He might be seen as the country’s next finance minister.

Veteran BJP leader Arun Jaitley has been camping out in Amritsar for the past one month. And what he’s missing the most in the city is his morning walk with prominent journalist friends in Delhi’s Lodhi Gardens. Keeping his feelings in mind, his friends’ group, that is Swapan Dasgupta, Shobhana Bhartiya, Coomi Kapoor, Virendra Kapoor and Raian Karanjawala have reached Amritsar and Jaitley ji is seen on his morning walk with them at the Company Bagh.
