Why did Mamta’s tone change? |

It was not a secret that neither Mamata Banerjee, nor the then Governor of West Bengal Jagdeep Dhankhar, developed any amicable relations with each other. But when an important meeting took place in Darjeeling this time between Assam Chief Minister Hemant Biswa Sarma and Mamata Banerjee, since then Mamta’s attitude towards BJP and NDA has loosened a bit.Only after this important meeting Trinamool announced that ‘It will stay away from the voting process for the post of Vice President (in which Dhankhar is in the fray as an NDA candidate) i.e. TMC will not participate in the voting. Whereas Dhankar had laid serious allegations on Mamata and her government like excessive appeasement, communal patronage and extortion by the mafia syndicate. At the same time, Mamata has been continuously pretending to strengthen the opposition unity for a long time. Didi alleged that “Congress did not take her opinion in deciding the name of Margaret Alva for the post of Vice President.” Anyway, in December last year, Mamata had questioned the entire existence of the UPA and asked ‘What is this UPA? Then she herself gave the answer – ‘There is no UPA anywhere. Is this a constitutional compulsion?’ |
