So sayeth Behenji

Posted on 28 August 2011 by admin

Behenji’s political plans have taken a beating in UP. She wants that there should be Assembly elections in the state next May-June. Behenji feels that during the sweltering heat of summers, it will be tough to get upper-caste people out of their houses to vote. The women voters will also find it tough to come when the sweltering hot winds blow, while those from the BSP cadre will come in hordes to cast their votes. On the other hand, Mulayam and the BJP (even the Congress was of the same opinion before the Anna episode) and the Election Commission were of the view that the first phase of the elections should happen from February next year.

Rahul’s folly

Posted on 28 August 2011 by admin

“Desh ke yuva yahan hain, Rahul Gandhi kahan hai”. When the youth collected at Ramlila Maidan supporting Anna’s fast started to say this, the Congress yuvraj emerged from power corridors into the Parliament theatre like he had come up with a new agenda on the Lokpal that was different from the prime minister’s line of thinking. But on Saturday, Opposition leader Sushma Swaraj called it Rahul Gandhi’s message to the nation. Not only did she raise questions on Rahul’s 15-minute speech of five pages and talked about his speech reading, but also questioned the Parliamentary reactions. The Opposition leader said that usually the respected Speaker does not allow for such interventions during the Zero Hour, and if it granted at all, it is for a mere three minutes, which the speaker can extend up to five minutes. The Opposition had a feeling that Rahul had come to the Parliament to put forward the Congress line. The Opposition, and especially the BJP felt that Rahul ruined the prime minister’s statesmanship. The Opposition had a bigger role to play in Anna agreeing to breaking his fast than the Congress. And this issue is irking the prime minister’s camp.

The lawyer trio’s clout

Posted on 21 August 2011 by admin

Now this lawyer trio is putting all the blame on the Delhi Commissioner of Police. They are of the opinion that the gullible DCP V K Gupta bought what Arvind Kejriwal said. It is worth mentioning that it was on Kejriwal’s behest that Gupta agreed to go to J P Park. But even Delhi Police hadn’t prepared itself of the kind of crowd that was gathering at the ground since August 15 itself.

Differences in the Congress

Posted on 21 August 2011 by admin

Differences in the Congress have cropped up on the Anna issue. Leave a few lawyer Congressmen aside, otherwise most Congressmen are of the opinion that the governance mechanism has made a mistake with the Anna issue. The CCPA (this five-member committee includes the prime minister, Pranab Mukherjee, Chidambaram, Kapil Sibal and Salman Khurshid) overruled the common sentiment of the Congressmen and put Anna in jail, which fanned the fire among the public. Other party members were of the view that Anna should either be kept at a guest house or sent back to his village Ralegerh by air. But Chidambaram, Khurshid and Sibal were in favour of strict action and the silence of the prime minister and Pranab Mukherjee made them do what they wanted to. The lawyer lobby of the party won and the Congress lost.

I am Anna, and so are you

Posted on 21 August 2011 by admin

The moral strength and awesome willpower of a 74-year old man has brought back memories of Bapu. He has placed the blazing sun on the side of the Indians who have been sleeping unmindful of everything through the black night. This sun has lit up the entire nation with a new light and all lighted paths are shining for the angel. This is the time when every grain of earth is throbbing like a mother’s heart. Salam to this new-found Anna-isation of a whole new India. The ruling parties are stunned into silence, since the then-silent India has found a new voice. At such a time, an editor of a big English daily in Delhi tells why he isn’t Anna. This editor believes that “This is just a protest against something, it isn’t a revolution. This just reeks of middle-class hypocrisy.” But it has only angered the owners a little more, since they have been given the special treatment by the government and the Congress and they have free access to the Rajya Sabha. Apart from the newspaper owners, there are several businessmen, too. For instance, one of them owns a big chemical factory, which produces a special chemical to refine opium. This chemical is controlled by the government. So, the moment chemical-laden trucks leave the factories, they frequently meet with accidents and the chemical can be sold openly in the market, but not the public’s feelings. Don’t let anyone influence you. Every Indian has an Anna living within her and you should let him breathe so that our democracy survives, too.

BSP-Congress’ mishmash

Posted on 16 August 2011 by admin

The Congress calls it politics and the SP calls it a double game. On one hand, while some Congress leaders are cooking something together with some SP leaders for the next UP Assembly elections, there are some Congress leaders associated with UP, who are playing hide and seek with the BSP. So, the moment Rajiv Shukla becomes a minister at the Centre, Satish Mishra, who is close to Maya, goes to Shukla’s residence to congratulate him. When Mayavati develops worry lines because of disproportionate assets, Satish Verma feet lead him to Law Minister Salman Khurshid’s house on August 2, at 9.45 pm on Tuesday. When they come out together, he has a relieved look on his face, and the present times prove so.

Rahul at Red Fort

Posted on 16 August 2011 by admin

Manmohan Singh will against speak at the Red Fort on August 15. It is speculated that as the prime minister, this will be Manmohan Singh’s last address to the nation. The Gandhi family has always been well represented on August 15. So Rahul Gandhi has left his mother recuperating in a hospital in Houston to be here. It is being said that he has returned to India for the Independence Day celebrations as well as to take part in Rajiv Gandhi’s birthday’s celebrations. Also, he knows that next year he has to stand in the same place and address the entire nation.

Congress, bigger than the nation

Posted on 16 August 2011 by admin

It is said that the governing powers are usually hard of hearing but Manmohan Singh’s ministers aren’t ready to listen to anything at all. Even a junior minister like Ajay Maken was seen throwing his headphone in the Parliament, Harish Rawat was seen trying to stop him, Rajiv Shukla was caught by his channel sleeping in the Parliament, Salman sa’ab has got a mother with a beard (Manmohan Singh) and his entire body language has changed. Sibal sa’ab’s body language as well as the tongue seems to be speaking well beyond their means. The Congress’ behaviour in the Parliament is becoming anarchistic and self-willed every day. It is enough to embarrass the democracy and Chidambaram’s haughty behaviour is making up for the rest. A bullet for helpless farmers’ protests, a threat to Anna’s fasting and lathi-charge on protestors is a normal thing for Chidambaram. So, the BJP too has decided it will directly attack the Gandhi family. A prominent BJP leader, along with a big English newspaper based in Delhi worked hard for eight months and has prepared a dossier about Robert Vadera. Clearly, this will be the biggest attack on the Gandhi family in an open way. From land, malls and hotels, there is a full file on everything. The newspaper was just about to start a series on the investigation, when the Rajmata of the party fell ill. As soon as she’s back, a lot of secrets will be out in the open and hollow relationships stuck together with weak threads will also be brought out. It will be the real test of Manish and Nirupam’s acumen.

Outstanding Trivedi

Posted on 07 August 2011 by admin

Dinesh Trivedi has been named the “outstanding” minister in the Parliament. There was a time when Trivedi was much loved in the Congress, but seeing his revolutionary stance, the Congress has distanced itself from him. The room for which Trivedi let his worse side show is actually a room on the ground floor, which had been given to the then Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee only because it has an attached bathroom and being a woman, the room suited Banerjee the most. Later, the Congress gave that room to Ambica Soni on the same premise. And this made the man in Dinesh Trivedi bristle with anger.
