SP has had to suffer humiliation in the MLC elections in U.P. and for this Akhilesh is blaming the lack of resources. Akhilesh is saying
that Amar Singh did not give any money to the party fund because of which the SP candidates had to face defeat. Mulayam camp is claiming that when netaji was in power, he had given a free hand to Amar Singh in Noida, Greater Noida, Agra Development Authority and Excise for filling up the party coffers. But when time came, Amar played his tricks and walked off.

A news channel, which is famous for its live for Bengal and all things Bengali, went to town proclaiming that Jyoti Basu was the first political leader to have donated his body upon his death, whereas the fact remained that Madhu Dandavat was the first such person who had expressed the desire to donate his body upon his death. And the hospital to which his body was donated, never blew a trumpet over the issue.

Ever since Amar Singh has come to know that something is cooking between SP and Congress and the two parties have almost reached an understanding that in the 2012 Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh they would be contesting together on half the seats in the State each, he has stopped making advances towards the Congress. And now through Shashank Shekhar he has sent a message to his arch-rival Mayawati that on getting off the cycle he was prepared to take an elephant ride. But Mayawati has still not made up her mind.

It should be remembered that it was in this column that it was first discussed that how four senior officers of India’s biggest intelligence agency RAW had proceeded on leave last June to register their protest against the promotion to other officers. They had kept extending their leave. Of these four officers, one officer, Arney, who hails from Karnataka, has since returned to work. But the protest leave of the three other officers is still continuing. Of these three, two officers – C.K. Sinha and Sharad Kumar – have sent a communication to RAW chief B.K. Verma that if he would even make a phone call then they too would return to work. But till now neither has the RAW chief
called them up and nor has he sent them a message. Now what is troubling them is the fear of the unknown.

When the ambition of late Rajshekhar Reddy’s son Jaganmohan Reddy to
become the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh were eclipsed, Rosaiah’s
joy knew no bounds. But Jagan did not give up hope. Now his first
agenda is to dislodge Rosaiah from his post. It appears that Jagan’s
efforts have started bearing fruit. Now the Congress high command has
also started acknowledging that on the matter of Telangana, Rosaiah
failed as a Chief Minister. So now the party strategists have come out
with a new formula that why not make a leader of Telengana the next
Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. The names of Union Urban Development
Minister Jaipal Reddy and the Congress in-charge of Jharkhand K.
Keshavrao are on the top of this list.

BJP’s poster boy is these days having a gala time. Sometimes he gets
himself photographed with Amitabh Bachchan in his designer clothes and
at other times he is seen in a Kutch festival clad in a denim jeans
and suede shirt with a muffler smartly hung around his neck. His
passion for clothes is worth seeing these days because when he was
recently on a trip to the Narmada his entire clothing was brown. And
when he attends his political meetings, he wears his half-sleeve
shirts and pyjamas in his impeccable style. In the political circles,
the buzz has now started going around that who after all is Modi’s
dress designer?

The youngest MP of Lok Sabha Hamdullah Sayeed who is the son of former
Cabinet Minister late P.M. Sayeed, used his good political connections
and knack to make space for himself at the eleventh hour in the high
level Indian delegation for attending the Climate Change Summit in
Copenhagen. When Hamdullah’s name did not figure in the first list of
the Indian delegation for the Copenhagen summit, he got busy in
telling the party high command and the Central Government that how
important it was for him to go with the delegation. Because his
constituency Lakshadweep was worst affected by climate change. The
reasoning of the young MP so appealed to the Congress and its
Government that his name was included in the list at the last moment.
But a similar reasoning given by the BJP MP from Andaman and Nicobar
and Delhi Mayor were not even considered by the Congress bosses, so
what is the matter? Has the mood of the hand become so aggressive that
it is forever keen to crush the lotus?

Sources say BJP’s new president Nitin Gadkari would form his new team by March. They tell us that Ananth Kumar, Piyush Goel, Kirit Somaiah and Sanjay Joshi would play important roles. Even otherwise, Gadkari is an old friend of Ananth Kumar and before becoming president, whenever he would come to Delhi, he would always stay in Ananth Kumar’s home. Sources say Gadkari can make Kalraj Mishra the vice-president and Ananth Kumar and Manohar Paricker party national general secretaries. Piyush Goel could become the party’s national treasurer and he could also be given a Rajya Sabha berth. The Ambani connection of both Goel and Gadkari is well known. Gadkari can give Sanjay Joshi a position of responsibility in the organisation and to provide BJP a young image, he could make the saffron scion of the Gandhi family Varun Gandhi the president of BJP Yuva Morcha.

Senior Congress leader Priyaranjan Dasmunshi has returned to India from Germany after treatment and has again got admitted in Apollo
Hospital. In Germany, the placement of stem cells in his brain was done successfully. The doctors are confident of growth in these stem
cells within three months and with this expected growth, the health of Dasmunshi would also look up. This is definitely good news.

In such a situation when 16 MLAs of BJP are prepared to cross over to other parties, Rajnath Singh wants to keep his attention focussed on U.P. and he wants to create a young team in the State with an average age of 45 to 55 years. So, Rajnath’s team is picking out on and calling such BJP leaders and urging them to join him for a better future. But who is listening? Soon after keeping the phone down, most of the people start evaluating Rajnath’s character on the basis of various experiences and his gestures. Most of them are victims of compelling situations of the past and this is perhaps the hallmark of Rajnath’s politics.
