Pay heed to the Rs 16 crore

Posted on 01 August 2010 by admin

With a fetish for big cars, Sohrabuddin’s clout was such in the three states that his money laundering business alone gave him annual earnings of Rs 25 crore. He was arrested by the Gujarat police on November 24, 2005. Then IPS police office Abhuday Chudasma allegedly had him all the marble lobby and asked them to cough up Rs 16 crore. When the deal was done, he was killed in a fake encounter on November 26. The moot point is, where are those Rs 16 crore?

Who was Sohrabuddin?

Posted on 24 July 2010 by admin

In the political games, people seem to have forgotten who Sohrabuddin, whose alleged fake encounter has caused the Gujarat government sleepless nights. He is said to be Dawood’s D-Company’s aide, TADA convict and found guilty of accepting money for money laundering of the marble industry. The chargesheet filed by the CBI against Gujarat Home Minister Amit Shah has convicted 15 people in the crime. They also have Amit Shah’s voice recording from an entire night. But the arrests will be made only after the court reads the chargesheet and issues warrants. The CBI might also get some state witnesses to tighten the noose around those accused.

With bag and baggage

Posted on 21 July 2010 by admin

The forthcoming Monsoon Session might get to see a new strategy by the BJP. The party’s leaders believe that if it is okay in the Democracy for Congress leaders to sleep in the Karnataka Vidhan Sabha, the train can be followed in the Parliament, too. The BJP has 116 parliamentarians in the current session, many of whom have not received accommodation so far, which they have a right to because of the Lok Sabha quota. So to add spice to the political drama, the saffron party’s leaders may land up in the Parliament, nag, baggage and all. This is where they will eat, live and sleep there, and when awake, shout slogans against the Congress. Kudos to democracy!

What is Hindu terrorism?

Posted on 21 July 2010 by admin

CBI suspects the play of Hindu terrorists in no less than 7 bomb explosions after 2006. This movement maybe in its early phases, but the CBI is not taking it any lightly. It feels the Hindu terrorists had a hand in the explosions in the Samjhauta Express on February 18, 2007; the Malegaon explosions on September 28, 2008; Thane Cinema explosion on June 4, 2008; Goa bomb explosions on October 16, 2009; the August bomb explosions at Kanpur and Nander, and the bomb explosion at Ajmer Sharif on October 11, 2007. But before this, the CBI will have to answer several questions that have remains unanswered so far. For instance, what role did some officers from the intelligence agency IB and the Military Intelligence have in the blasts? Where did they get their instructions from? The questions are there and the answers need to be given on an express notice.

BJP’s blues

Posted on 11 July 2010 by admin

The tradition of the organizing and distributing flags, pamphlets, notes is an old one in the BJP. This time, the new series of “Sach ka samna” has made a direct dig at Advani, Jethmalani, Gurumurthy and Gadkari. With good printing, best paper and better couplets (“You are a Sindhi and so am I”) are being used by an ignored and sulking BJP leader to come out in the open about his party members. Questions are being raised and feeling being hurt. If the party suffers, who cares?

How to make out greedy politicians

Posted on 11 July 2010 by admin

It is understood that Kim Davey frequented India frequently from 1988 onwards, and went to Mumbai and other parts of India. He allegedly also helped several political leaders financially. The shock of it all is that his passport is named after a one to two-year-old child who is dead, so that his real identity always remains hidden. Or maybe the stakeholders in the government made sure he was never known. He still kept visiting India and kept up his nefarious activities on Indian soil.

What’s Hegde eyeing?

Posted on 05 July 2010 by admin

Karnataka’s Justice Hegde really has his mind on some other thing and refuses to take his resignation back. Sources say that currently he is looking at political possibilities and is probably preparing himself to enter the upper house, that is, the Rajya Sabha. That means Delhi is not to far from his ambitious plans. And as it is, his schooling and college was done in Delhi and his wife has quite a say in the Delhi circles, what with her Punjabi connection. Justice Hegde was previously Supreme Court’s Additional Solicitor General and later went on to become a judge in the Supreme Court. Justice Hegde’s father K S Hegde has been a member of the Rajya Sabha, went on to become a judge in the Karnataka High Court and then a judge in the Supreme Court. After resigning from his post in 1977, he contested the Lok Sabha elections and become a member of the Parliament and then the Lok Sabha Speaker. All in all, politics and law run in the family.

Where’s Amar headed?

Posted on 05 July 2010 by admin

Amar Singh may be far removed from the political circles but he has sure troubled his old friends with a new issue. These days, he’s seen singing paeans to the Congress high Command and the king-to-be. His only desire being that the Congress forgets his earlier sins and give him shelter.
