Popular Tamil actor Dhanush’s extremely popular son “Kolaveri di” can be heard in its own avatar in the run up to Uttarkhand elections. Recently, to talk about the corrupt leaders in Nainital, a group of local young boys created a song and even uploaded it on Youtube. The words are, “Why this dhokhadhari ji?” It goes without saying that Kolaveri di is ruling the hills and valleys of Uttarakhand elections.

Under the constitution, the Pakistan army wants to overthrow the government– the current government is not liked by the army in any case. The army is trying to push forward Imran Khan and is gathering a lot of crowd for his rallies but the US doesn’t like Imran. Musharraf may also return to Pakistan before the 30. He believes that no matter what, the army will never send him to jail and let him stay on in Rawalpindi.

The prime minister’s former Media Advisor Harish Khare basically went because of a lot of opposition from Hindi and regional media. Their constant grouse was that Khare was too English, stubborn and didn’t give too much importance to Hindi and other regional languages. The PM’s impression of Khare had already been spoilt after the 10, Janpath and 7, Race Course stand-off becoming public and the news about the same every other day. So when Khare was asked to report to Pulok Chatterjee, Khare didn’t agree to it. He was bent on being answerable only to the prime minister. At such a time, efforts were made to transfer him elsewhere. Names such as Prannoy Roy, Bharat Bhushan, Alok Mehta and Vinod Sharma did the rounds but all these journalists had one condition – they will not report to Pulok.

It looks like the biggies from Congress and the BJP have had a pact of sorts with each other – you scratch my back, I will scratch yours. That is why no prominent leader from one party wants a face-off with another big leader from the opposing party. The surprising big it that these same politicians were, at some point, pushing themselves for the chief minister’s post. For instance, prominent Congress leader Harak Singh Rawat, had his usual seat was from Landsdowne. But since Uttarakhand Raksha Morcha has placed its candidate TPS Rawat there, Harak Singh has moved on to Doiwala, but Nishank also decided to contest from there. Now Rawat didn’t want a face-off with Nishank either, and so quietly made a line for Rudraprayag. What is also interesting to note here is that the candidate BJP has put opposite Rawat is Matbar Singh Kandari, a relative of Harak Singh. Kandari is married to Rawat’s sister. Similarly, the Congress has placed a weak leader opposite BJP Chief Minister Bhuvanchand Khanduri in Kotdwar. It is being said that Satpal Maharaj’s wife Amrita Rawat came to Ramnagar on being asked by the BJP. Yashpal Arya’s entry into Bajpur is also a tell-tale proof of the same.

How would poor Kirit Somaiya have known that the National Rural Health Mission’s funds pilfering, which had been looking into keenly and going into records thoroughly, will have the same Babu Singh Kushwaha into the party? It is believed that Somaiya had a big role to play in getting RTI papers against Kushwaha and making them available. Now Somaiya doesn’t know how he will ever face the party president.

First an application was presented by the army chief’s wife, which was then sent to the Legislative Committee of the army, from where it was sent to the government for a hearing. V K Singh belongs to Bhiwani in Haryana, and his father Thakur Vijay Pal Singh is one of the close aides of former Prime Minister Chandrashekhar and was elected from the Sohna Assembly area in 1977. He also joined the Congress in 1980 and his family has close ties with Capt Amrinder Singh.

The Congress may be confident in the Uttarakhand elections this time, but Opposition leader of the Congress Harak Singh Rawat is worried and shocked that he isn’t getting the seat he wants to contest the elections. Rawat is the current Assembly member of Landsdowne. But this time, the father of Uttarakhand Raksha Morcha Major TPS Rawat has proclaimed war against Harak Singh. TPS had quit the Congress and joined the BJP and then had quit the BJP and formed a party of retired armed forces officials. The major has proudly announced that he will personally pose a challenge to Harak Singh from Landsdowne and contest the elections from there. Looking for a safer seat, Harak Singh looked at Shrinagar, but before the Opposition leader could have settled down there, Satpal Maharaj announced that his protégé and former Assembly member Dhaundiyal will contest the elections from there. With no more choices, Harak Singh has now moved towards Doiwala for a decent safe seat. Initially, the Doiwala seat was under the Hardwar Parliamentary Area, but is now a part of the Dehradun Parliamentary Area. An alert Harak Singh is now trying to keep an ear out for opponents advancing.

Consider this: Who will speak in the Parliament on the Lokpal issue on December 27 on behalf of the BJP and the Sangh, who have always advocated transparency and correctness in political thinking? None other than respected Mr Anant Singh, whose Shrikatha Ananta is known to all. Be it the HUDCO scam or the Niira Radia case, everyone knows of Anant’s role in it. Looks like Dushyant Singh had such situations in mind when he said, “Is tarah toote hue chehre nahi hain/ jis tarah chaho baja lo sabha mein/ hum nahi aadmi hum jhunjhune hain.”
