Regional politics

Posted on 06 November 2011 by admin

It seems Lalu Prasad has cut off all ties with Bihar. Be it his birthday or Diwali or the all-important Bihari festival Chhath, he celebrated all of them in Delhi. Now it is even being said that he might contest the Lok Sabha elections from West Delhi, where there is a big number of people from Purvanchal.

The cost of too much talk

Posted on 06 November 2011 by admin

A prominent English channel’s head (whom Sharad Yadav attaced openly) has his job in danger. Counted among the biggest media houses in the country, this channel is seeing its owner becoming strict with their channel head. It is believed that in regards to a PF scam, the channel showed the picture of Justice P V Sawant in place of a district court judge. Sawant has also been the head of Press Council. So he immediately slapped a Rs 100 crore defamation case against the channel. After facing defeat in the district and high courts, the channel head has now knocked on the Supreme Court’s doors, and the court has asked the channel to submit Rs 20 crore in cash and Rs 80 crore as bank guarantee with the court. Now the owners of the channel are realising the price they are having to pay for opposing the Central government. And although the matter is still in court, the owners are trying to oust the channel head.

Shuklaji’s strong point: PR

Posted on 06 November 2011 by admin

The profile of Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Rajiv Shukla includes assisting and ensuring the Rajya Sabha runs smoothly. But he is also one of those with good public relations. So the Congress has asked him to also lobby with Opposition leaders from the Lok Sabha as well. So this Diwali, he bought gifts by the dozen and arrived at homes of Opposition leaders. Not just the BSP, SP and the BJP, he even went to the homes of Lalu Prasad and Sharad Yadav. BJP’s Arun Jaitley and CPM’s Sitaram Yechury are some of his good friends and because they keep meeting Shukla ji, and because Jaitley likes to follow and play games other than politics just like Shukla ji, they both have a great tuning. But Shukla ji couldn’t meet Opposition leader in the house Sushma Swaraj, although he asked her office twice for an appointment, but Sushma’s office told him in plain words, “Madam is not celebrating Diwali this time, because her brother died only a few months ago. “

Why did Bhawari disappear?

Posted on 06 November 2011 by admin

The CBI still hasn’t got a solid lead about Bhanwari Devi but sources reveal that she was in constant touch with Maderana for the past five years and they became close. Maderana had assured Bhanvari that he will surely make her a minister or a member of the Assembly. Bhanwari’s political ambitions knew no bounds and when Maderana could not do anything for her, it is said that she hid a video camera in a window AC and got a CD of hers made with him. She then went to the biggest political leader of the BJP in Rajasthan and told her that if Rs 2 crore were paid, Gehlot’s government could fall. The BJP leader saw the CD and said that Maderana was not such a big player that his crime, if proved, could fall the government. If the matter came to light, he would simply be told to leave the government. . When Maderana came to know about the CD, he asked Bhanwari for the same. It is said that Maderana was angry with Bhanvari, who said that for others the price was Rs 2 crore, but for him, it would be nothing less than Rs 5 crore. And thus Bhanwari disappeared, never to be found again.

Trivedi’s train going off track

Posted on 06 November 2011 by admin

Relations between Central Railway Minister Dinesh Trivedi and Mamata Banerjee continue to worsen. Mamata is not liking Trivedi’s corporate behaviour and there will be questions on the way the rail wagon tender worth Rs 26,000 crore was given to PSU BHEL through just nomination. Sources reveal that BHEL has subcontracted the work to a private company Titagarh Wagon. This private company allegedly has close relations with Prafful Patel and Dinesh Trivedi. Sam Pitroda also played a pivotal role in this deal being finalised; Trivedi made Pitroda the head of the committee formed to modernise the railways.

The EVM question

Posted on 06 November 2011 by admin

After a recent report by USA’s Nasa and Department of Energy, which says the electronic voting machine (EVM) can be hacked, the BJP may again start its record on the EVM issue. Advani’s Jan Chetna Yatra may well have been a flop, but several of his ideas and questions have been a hit. Advani has also been constantly raising the question of reliability of EVMs. That’s because the BJP is still looking at Chidambaram’s win with suspicion. And because Chidambaram’s win at the last moment is still pending in the court, so the party is also not sure about the recounting of EVMs. The BJP leaders have always been saying in hushed tones that the EVMs had a big role to play in the Congress win in 2009 elections with 206 seats. Several other big and small parties have been talking about the EVM’s reliability. So the politics of EVMs may heat up in the days to come.

Gandhi goes techno savvy

Posted on 06 November 2011 by admin

What is common to both brothers Rahul and Varun? Both of them are extremely tech savvy. Rahul is crazy about his Blackberry phone, and his younger brother can’t get enough of Twitter. Even during important party meetings, Rahul seems to be busy with his Blackberry messenger, and Varun uses the social networking site Twitter to talk about a lot of current issues. Be it tax evasion during F1, the KG Basin or about the black money Indians have hoarded in Swiss banks, Varun’s tweets are not only catching a lot of eyeballs but are also becoming a worry for the senior party members. But who can dare to tell Varun to stop?

Not all’s well in Arunachal

Posted on 06 November 2011 by admin

It is believed that the sudden decision of a change of guard in Arunachal Pradesh came from 10, Janpath itself. In the northeast, it is only the two states of Arunachal and Assam where apart from Christians, other religious groups are in large numbers. The Sangh is also pretty active in the two states and balancing it out are active Christian missionaries. Arunachal shared boundary with China and there are a large number of Buddhists here. In the two districts of Tirap and Changlang of Arunachal, the Naga group is pretty active, where it is often claimed that the group pressurises others to convert, that is, it directly benefits the Christian missionaries. The former Chief Minister of Arunachal Jarbom Gamlin had become pretty strict on the Nagas and the Christian missionaries were obviously upset with him. So the baton was handed over to Nabam Tuki of Nayishi community on Sonia’s directions. It is worth mentioning that Tuki has unshaking faith in Christianity there were a lot of prayers offered in churches to make him the chief minister. The prayers must have reached God, because that is why madam heard them.
