Diamond-encrusted Socialism |
August 10 2013 |
A big diamond jewellery showroom had to wrap up its operations. Because the showroom was shutting down, the owner offered heavy discounts on the jewellery to some of the chosen customers. They were sent SMS messages and informed about the same. One of the customers was the wife of the young chief minister of a prominent state in the north. As soon as she got the text message, the chief minister’s wife reached Mumbai with a few confidantes. The owner of the showroom welcomed her into the showroom and said, “Madam, please set aside the pieces that you like and I will have them packed.” Madam smiled and said, “Please pack all of them and let me know how much the entire thing will cost; you will be paid.” It seems as if Lohia’s socialism has lost everything on the threshold of the nouveau riche. |
