The new year may bring heartache and allegations for Justice A K Ganguly. In the year 2014, he may have to relinquish the post of chairperson of West Bengal’s Human Rights Commission. The attorney general has let his opinion be known on this to the Law Ministry. The reference can happen only after this. Some Constitutional posts in our country are such that people occupying these positions can’t be impeached directly. The President can take some action on it only after an enquiry by the Supreme Court. Which means the entire procedure may take merely 10-12 days.
