Yeddyurappa’s flying woes

July 09 2018

The newly installed Kumaraswami government in Karnataka has landed BJP’s Yeddyurappa a fat bill for using the official jet of the government even before he could take the floor test in proving the party’s majority after the last elections in the state. Sources say that confident that with blessings of the state governor, a BJP implant, he would get his party to rule the state. So immediately after being sworn in as the CM – even before proving a party majority – he flew out thrice on different sorties in the official carrier, to meet his spiritual mentor. But the intervention of the judiciary saw to it that BJP scurried into a hasty retreat from the contest and the united Congress-JDS combine came to power, and immediately, it sent the bill to Yeddyurappa for misuse of official facilities.
