On the tenterhooks is Mayawati, who is calculating her every step, for she is aware that one misstep and either of the three, Mamata Didi of West Bengal, Jagan Mohan Reddy of Andhra Pradesh or Tamil Nadu’s Stalin will run off with her shoes, err… chappals! After the demise of Karunanidhi in Tamil Nadu, Stalin is riding the ‘sympathy’ chariot. Due to his consistent diligence, Jagan has eked up a firm grassroots position, and in West Bengal, Didi remains invincible.
Trying to keep astern, Behenji’s closest attaché Satish Chandra Mishra recently met Congress veteran, Ahmad Patel with a new proposal. Mishra’s proposed to Patel was that BSP could consider giving Congress a double digit seat arrangement in UP, provided the latter agrees to give it 39-40 seats across seven states in the country. These states include Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra. It is learnt from 10 Janpath insiders that Patel has rubbished the proposal, simply because Congress feels that in view of the poor showing of BSP in the 2014 polls, such a demand is highly imaginative. So the question rests: will there at all be a grand coalition in UP in the 2019 polls?
