It is understood that Modi will promote some of his cabinet colleagues in view of their better performance. PMO prepares report card of each Minister and points given for various attributes. Good performers naturally are likely to be rewarded. These include people like Nitin Gadkari, Piyush Goyal. Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu is expected to be shifted to Environment. Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari is likely to get Railways. It remains to be seen whether he gets railways as an additional ministry or in place of his existing portfolio. It is also likely that a new composite ministry of surface transport can be created which will include Roads, Shipping and Railways.
It is now well known that the ministers who had been summoned by Amit Shah last time, had to lose their cabinet seat or had been demoted. This time Shah had summoned three ministers for a long chat. It is therefore natural that all these three – Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Chaudhary Birender Singh and Upendra Kushwaha – would be worried about their future.
