Mayawati from Nagina?

July 09 2018

If sources in the Bahujan Samaj Party are to be believed, party supremo Mayawati is likely to contest for the Lok Sabha in 2019 from the Nagina reserved seat. So far the seat is being warmed by BJP’s senior leader Yashwant Singh. It is known that Muslims and Dalits have a huge say in this 15-lakh-voter seat, going beyond 50 per cent. In the 2014 elections Singh polled 39.02 per cent votes; then sitting MP of the Samajwadi Party, Yashvar Singh came first runner up with 29.22 per cent, while BSP’s Girish Chandra came a poor third with just 26.06 per cent votes. Mayawati believes that if the SP and BSP join hands in 2019, then the BSP will bag no less than 65 per cent votes and she will become the queen of Nagina.
