Jaya-Mamata’s Bengali connect

February 26 2018

Come April, some 59 out of the 245 members of the Rajya Sabha will complete their tenure. They will retire and then reinstate their political ambitions. The BJP will make a powerful return in the Upper House, while the Samajwadi Party will have to bear the most losses.
Despite all these political bets, there are three SP leaders who are confident that they will return to the House. The bets are in place by Naresh Agarwal and Kiranmoy Nanda. Naresh Agarwal has swapped courts from Mulayam camp to Akhilesh camp.
On the more, SP’s Jaya Bachchan is also retiring but its word in the ally suggests that this time she’ll not be a part of the Uttar Pradesh Rajya Sabha, and instead the West Bengal one. In this regard, she has received full assurance from Mamta ‘Didi’. The Trinamool, too, is backing Jaya Bachchan by crowning her a ‘Bengali icon’, and sources say that Jaya and Mamata have had their discussions from the back-doors.
The Rajya Sabha tenure of eight Union Ministers of the BJP is also ending in this April, and most of them will be rehabilitated. Sources say that Shah has assured two people in this regard –one of them being Rajnath Singh’s political advisor and ‘jyotish’ (astrologer) Sudhanshu Trivedi, and the second name is of Shazia Ilmi, who holds the potential to zip AAP’s Sanjay Singh in the Upper House
