Congress Taking No Risk in UP

August 06 2018

In Uttar Pradesh, if the four parties – SP, BSP, Congress and RLD – join hands together, Rahul will still have an upper hand. How?
Hypothetically, if this coalition does not work out, even for then Congress is prepping itself. The party is trying to draw its organisations parallel to the Samajwadi Party. A young Yadav leader – Keshavchand Yadav – has been made Youth Congress president to woo the Yadav voters. Keshavchand is a resident of Purvanchal, where Yadav are the decisive votes in some seats.
Nadeem Javed of Jaunpur has been made the chair of minority cell. He has replaced Imran Masood who has had upset Hindus with derogatory remarks. The image of Nadeem Javed is relatively of a moderate Muslim leader.
Nadeem has handed over the command of Western UP to Zia-ul-Firoz, whose alma mater is Aligarh Muslim University. The Congress feels that if in case the Samajwadi Party ditches them in elections, even then they will have their way to combating Muslim-Yadav votes.
