CBI with PMO

November 05 2018

There seems to be a change in the Centre’s attitude towards handling the CBI inferno. Now the PMO is taking decisions directly, whereas a few days ago it seemed that National Security Advisor Ajit Doval had been given a free hand. This happened when the tooth-and-nail battle between Director AK Verma and his deputy RK Asthana reached the portals of the Supreme Court. It seems that Doval had assured the 91987 batch Gujarat cadre IPS officer AK Sharma that he would be made the CBI chief after the retirement of Verma. It is learnt that Sharma is not just close to Doval but also to BJP boss Amit Shah. But the moment Asthana got wind of this, he rammed into Sharma’s chances.
