Posted on 14 December 2019 by admin

On one hand where the Government is claiming of reducing its expenditure, an RTI reveals that the new Lokpal of the nation – Justice PC Ghosh– is running his Secretariat from 12 rooms of Hotel Ashok. It is said that approximately Rs 50 lakhs per month is being spent on this “office”. RTI further reveals that in the past seven months, Rs 3.85 crore have been credited to the hotel’s account. Notably, till October 31, out of the 1,160 complaints received by the Lokpal, a hearing was conducted on one thousand but the investigation could not go any further. Interestingly, the government had allotted only Rs 4.29 crore for Lokpal.

Uddhav unable to distribute ministries

Posted on 14 December 2019 by admin

A week has passed since Uddhav Thackrey took oath for the office of Chief Minister and although he has started sitting in his official room, the complications surrounding allotment of departments/ministries refuses to die down as the three parties are at loggerheads over them. Uddhav is eyeing Urban development, Housing, Irrigation, Waterworks and sanitation, Revenue, Transport and Finances for Shiv Sena. If sources are to be believed, the Congress is bent on Industries, School Education, Revenue, Women and Child development while the NCP wants Finance, Revenue, Urban development and similar major departments to themselves. NCP had earlier agreed on 16-14-12 formula but it is being said that Pawar has changed his mind. the winter session of the assembly will be from December 16 to 23, and it is being said that Uddhav wants to expand his cabinet after the session. Sharad Pawar was in Delhi for Parliament session and has now returned to Mumbai and is scheduled to meet Uddhav over division of ministries. Modi and Shah are also eyeing Maharashtra as they believe the government will not work more than six months since the three parties are at loggerheads at several issues. For example, the Shiv Sena has supported the Citizenship Amendment Bill but Congress has opposed it.

TDP changing its colours

Posted on 14 December 2019 by admin

There are no friends or enemies in politics. Take Chandra Babu Naidu for example. He had taken a stern stand against Modi and Shah in the Lok Sabha elections but when his party was shown the door by the people, he returned back to BJP and is now seen complimenting Modi and Shah. Recently, when in the Parliament, BJP was facing heat, Naidu excused himself from the opposition whether it was Pragya Thakur’s statement on Godse or the Maharashtra government formation, TDP MPs kept quiet and watched the entire scenario unfold from a distance. Amit Shah has already said that all doors leading back to NDA have been closed for TDP. But in the changed scheme of things wherein Shiv Sena has ousted itself from NDA, parties like TDP can bring new opportunities for BJP.

In the End…

Posted on 14 December 2019 by admin

The Central Government appears to be extremely strict over media as in the past five years, no new pass has been issued for journalist to gain access to central hall. Notably, even Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla has not formed the accreditation committee for Lok Sabha till now which issues pass to accredited journalists. The government feels that journalists keep roaming aimlessly in the central hall and speak to the MPs, which results in leaking of information and for a healthy democracy, more information is not healthy for a common man.

Hyd cop needs to be lauded

Posted on 14 December 2019 by admin

The Hyderabad Police has made an environment in the nation by killing the four rape-murder accused in the encounter. Generally, the men in khaki are used to being “condemned” by the people. However, this time, the police are being lauded, garlanded and Rakhis are being tied on their wrist. Apart from a few exceptions like Maneka Gandhi, the entire nation is celebrating. Now let us take you 11 years back when the Police Commissioner of Cyberabad -VC Sajjnar – had conducted a similar act. When Sajjnar was SP of Warangal district in December 2008, two girls were attacked and acid was thrown on them. Sajjanar nabbed the three men behind the attack and took them to the crime scene on December 11, 2008, to recreate the crime scene where the men allegedly attacked the cops and they too were shot dead, in a similar fashion that occurred in Disha’s case. Then too, Sajjanar became a hero in the eyes of the people and today too, he is a hero. How will the situation change, if no example is presented in the nation? The way the Unnao victim was set ablaze alive, her shrieks are still echoing in front of courts, so cops like Sajjanar have to present an example.

Subsidy in Parl canteen ends

Posted on 14 December 2019 by admin

Subsidy on food in Parliament canteen has been ended and the Government has claimed that with this move, Rs 17 crore will be saved. But the biggest question remains, was it just the MPs that were benefiting out of the subsidy? Most of the MPs claims that they return home during lunch hours as they prefer homemade food and give reason that since there is a ban on cooking food in the Parliament premises, thus food cooked hours back is provided in the canteen and it is reheated and then served, and thus the food is not considered good by the MPs. So now the question arises as to who was benefiting from the canteen food? The answer is simple: Journalists, photographers, security officials posted at Parliament, cleaning staff who reach the Parliament at daybreak and stay till late. These are a few people who benefited.

Why did the Shiv-Sena got into a tussle with BJP?

Posted on 06 December 2019 by admin

The Shiv Sena was hell-bent on a 50-50 power sharing formula with the BJP. It is said that when the division of seats was being done, Uddhav had kept a condition in front of Amit Shah and Shah had, allegedly, agreed on 50-50 power sharing formula. BJP strategists believed that Shiv Sena will loose most of its seats and the formula would be a thing of the past then. But in the results, Shiv Sena garnered more seats that earlier thought of and since then the Shiv Sena started demanding action on the 50-50 formula and included in their demands that Fadnavis was not acceptable to them as the CM. moreover, Sena MPs had started saying that the BJP does not treat them like a alliance party as their behaviour with JDU in Bihar is completely different than that with the Sena. Further Sena leaders had to wait for long if they had to meet BJP’s top leadership. The relations soured from here.

Who will be Delhi’s saffron CM?

Posted on 06 December 2019 by admin

The BJP has undertaken a major opinion poll recently and according to the poll results, the BJP is coming up as the single largest party in the national capital, but it is far from majority. It is being said that the BJP top leadership has decided not to repeat the mistakes from other states and the party will not project its CM face while only after the election results are out, will any thought be given to it. At present there are three faces in BJP’s CM race – Manoj Tiwari, Harshvardhan and Vijay Goyal, of which Tiwari’s claim is considered to be the strongest. Central Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, in a function, termed Manoj Tiwari as the next CM of Delhi but he was forced to give clarification on his comments within a few hours. Although Puri is not a politician rather a bureaucrat but late Arun Jaitley considered him the perfect face for CM. First Puri is a Sikh, secondly a bureaucrat which means the Punjabi voter and working class would vote for him. This was the reason he was given UDH ministry in Modi cabinet. It is said that it was through Puri that the Hinduja brothers connected themselves with Advani and BJP.
