Twinkle twinkle BJP stars

Posted on 23 July 2018 by admin

Bollywood start Akshay Kumar may be seen in a new avatar soon. Tinsel town birds are cooing that Akshay and several other stars are in regular communion with the BJP and they may be seen contesting the 2019 polls. Rumours had been rife that Akshay would be made a Rajya Sabha MP by the BJP, whose handmaid he has been for a while now. But that bombed. Now the speculation is that he may be given the party ticket from Gurdaspur or Amritsar. However the party’s Delhi unit is insisting that he should contest from Chandni Chowk or New Delhi constituencies. Party insiders say sitting Manoj Tiwari may be packed off to Buxar in Bihar, because tough dissident ‘Shotgun’ Sinha is likely to contest on an Aam Aadmi Party ticket from North East Delhi. Even former ace cricketer Kapil Dev wants to contest from Chandigarh, and so the saffron hue is spreading over Bollywood as well as sports.

Sleepless in two states

Posted on 23 July 2018 by admin

Internal reports of the BJP on the upcoming polls in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan fails to tickle anyone in the party. Looking at the raging anti-incumbency wave in MP, the party has apparently decided to axe almost 75 per cent of the sitting MLAs, and fresh faces be introduced. The mosaic is more or less the same in Rajasthan, but there, the party is shaky about hacking Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje. The party bosses are cagey that as it is, she has been a powerful dissenter, and if she is touched, she might just open her own party. A shaken Shah has decided that the polls in the desert state will be fought with Raje as the face, but the poll strategy will be decided and dictated from New Delhi’s Ashok Road office.

Chandrababu’s Agenda

Posted on 23 July 2018 by admin

Just a day ahead of the no-trust vote in Parliament, a slightly worried senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad met veteran communist leader Mohammad Saleem and requested him to discuss the Telugu Desam Party so that the latter does not restrict itself to arguing on Andhra issues alone, but launch a serious criticism of PM Modi’s failure, so that the issue of a united opposition comes to the surface of the debate. Saleem discussed this with TDP leader Srinivas, who informed his CM and party chief Chandrababu Naidu. But Naidu remained adamant that the injustice done to his state by the BJP government must be told the people of the country. The rest is now history!

Sena Eating BJP Votes?

Posted on 23 July 2018 by admin

The Shiv Sena has sacked its Whip in the Lok Sabha Chandrakant Khaire for supporting the no-trust motion. Apparently, Khaire had issued a whip to party MPs asking them to vote in favour of the motion, but he had not consulted party boss Uddhav Thakre. Both Thakre and second in command Sanjay Raut are also perplexed with the statement issued by Khaire, which was in chaste Hindi, whereas all internal missives of the Sena are in pure Marathi. The Sena commanders feel that it can niggle the BJP only by remaining in power, and as such poking the latter too much is bad for Sena’s health, as it badly needs BJP support to keep its BMC mayor afloat. Interestingly, the Sena is looking to embarrass the BJP by cutting into the Hindu votes in Uttar Pradesh where it is going to field its own candidates.

Learned Angst

Posted on 23 July 2018 by admin

Professor Ram Gopal Yadav is a worried man now. Apparently, his onetime protégé Akhilesh Yadav is refusing to all his diktats. Just recently, a news channel reporter merely asked the professor on what should be the Samajwadi Party’s stand in the then coming no-trust motion in Parliament. It was a straight and simple question but inflamed Yadav who launched himself into a tirade. It transpired that just a day ago, the professor had told Akhilesh that the party sould neither support nor oppose the motion. But Akhilesh stuck to his guns and refused, saying that this is the first major step in the united opposition front and hence the party will support the motion, hence the professor’s blast!

No Support for Cong

Posted on 23 July 2018 by admin

The now relegated Congress stalwart has launched himself into a new avatar. He now wants to be seen as the new Muslim force within the Congress. Thus it is that last week he got some Muslim leaders to meet party chief Rahul Gandhi, but it is learnt that there were no senior Congress supporters in the intellectual gathering. Take JNU Professor Zoya Akhtar, who is clear that intellectuals are not to be bound by any religion. It is now known that the group was just a collection of some of Salman’s confidants, who had invited to a dinner just a day ahead of the meeting with Rahul.

राहुल तो बच्चा है जी, मगर सच्चा है जी!

Posted on 23 July 2018 by admin

Though the predictable happened and PM Modi swam across the Rubicon to win the trust vote, many bitter truths were nevertheless unveiled. As on headline succinctly read after the day, “Modi wins trust vote, Rahul confidence.” You could read into Rahul’s sharply barbed questions to Modi as a curtain raiser to the 2019 polls. It has become clear what the opposition’s poll issues will be. The French government scurried with their response that there was indeed a secrecy pact between them and the Indian government, but is it true that the price of the Raphael fighter jets have indeed been hiked from Rs 520 crore to Rs 1,670 crore a piece? The government has turned a shy face in a stunning silence. On the issue of the pre-poll 2014 promise of generating two crore jobs each year, Modi lamely put out the figure of just one crore jobs, but that too is for just one year. He hid behind the wings on the rest of four years. And though the no-trust motion was tabled by the Telugu Desam Party, it was Rahul who remained firmly centre stage. And his now famous hug of the PM has become a major problem with the BJP, or as the Amul Ad says, “Embracing of Embarrassing?”

New Front: Vidarbha

Posted on 23 July 2018 by admin

Will Vidarbha slated to become India’s newest state soon? The way some buildings are being readied, it seems the dream will come true, for it is being said that the now under construction buildings will house the ‘state’s secretariat. Guesstimates are that the Centre will announce this just ahead of the Maharashtra state Assembly polls in 2020. It may be recalled that till 1985, there was a Vidarbha Committee in the Congress, though it was disbanded later. It is known that top Vidarbha leaders such as W Awari, M Rao Gohate, Naresh Puglia, Anees Ahmad, Tanaji Banawe, Shivaji Rao Moghe and others had recently met Congress president Rahul Gandhi. One learns that they have warned Rahul that if the party does not prepare for Vidarbha as a state from now itself, then their fate will be the same as in Telangana. Rahul has taken this seriously and asked his most trusted lieutenant Ashok Gehlot to prepare a firm agenda for Vidarbha, so that Congress flag is aflutter whenever Vidarbha happens.

PK: Prodigal Son Back

Posted on 16 July 2018 by admin

With the drums of destiny beckoning fortune seekers in 2019, Narendra Modi understands better than anyone else the difference between victory and defeat, and so wants to take no risk whatever. Everyone knows the huge spat that had emerged after the 2014 polls between BJP president Amit Shah and its then chief strategist Prashant Kishor, aka PK. To the extent that two refused to see each other in the eye. After that, PK made his rounds of other political parties to run his business of strategy-making, first calling on Nitish Kumar for the 2015 Bihar Assembly polls, in which he painted a miserable negative image of Modi, his original benefactor. Thereafter, PK worked with Akhilesh Yadav, Rahul Gandhi, Captain Amrinder Singh and lately, with Jagan Mohan Reddy. But his friends aver that he feels that the open chance and the kind of money he had received from BJP had not come his way with any of the latter. Now it is heard that PK and Modi have held several rounds of positive discussions recently. Then Modi invited Shah and PK for a lunch, but before proceeding with the repast, the two vowed to bury the hatchets and smoke the peace pipe!

Five war rooms, 1,500 soldiers

Posted on 16 July 2018 by admin

Prashant Kishor’s return to the BJP fold had been blessed by some RSS stalwarts, it is learnt. As such, PK has always had a sweet relationship with the saffron. Now he is in full battle gear for the 2019 polls. His company
I-Pack has already opened a huge office in South Delhi. Young professionals from the IITs and IIMs are being hired at salaries on demand. PK’s plan is to set up five war rooms in five different corners of the country. Each war room will have at least 300 such professionals, that is, a total of 1,500. PK’s focus during the 2014 had been to connect Modi with the youth of the country, via massive deployment on the social media. This time around too it will be much of the same, sources say. He has also revived his well-known programme NAF, or National Agenda Forum. The excuse is the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Alongside, PK will also work for Jagan Mohan Reddy, with a view to work out a post poll alliance between Reddy and the BJP.
