Jairam’s Bookish Effort

Posted on 25 June 2018 by admin

Jairam Ramesh is making back breaking efforts to end his political exile. It is known that Congress president Rahul Gandhi is not to taken up Ramesh, hence, he has been sent to the freezer. One of Ramesh’s latest efforts is a new book he is writing, obviously on politics. The book is on Indira Gandhi and her political confidant PN Haksar, bringing out many known and unknown facts. Expectedly, the book refers to the strained relation between Haksar and Sanjay Gandhi. No wonder, then, that this has provoked an immediate response from Sanjay and Maneka’s son, Varun Gandhi. His tweet says: “One failed politician (Ramesh) is writing on a failed bureaucrat (Haksar) and the attack is on a person who gifted India with its biggest post-Independence enterprise, Maruti. Last heard, the book has bombed and so the publisher is offering a 30-40 per cent discount on all online and offline sales. And Jairam himself is now pushing the book by releasing select excerpts of it in foreign newspapers. But to little avail, sources say.

Swamy’s ‘No’ to governorship

Posted on 25 June 2018 by admin

Those in the know in the saffron firmament say that the rabid right-wing politician Subramanian Swamy, Rajya Sabha MP, has been making desperate efforts to meet his party boss Amit Shah for quite some time – some say for the past two years. But Shah has been shutting the door on his face. Only recently, though, after the shock defeats of the party in various by-polls, Swamy suddenly got a call from Shah’s office saying that the boss desires to share a cuppa with him in BJP office. After healing praise on Swamy, Shah finally came to the point: Since Swamy knows the politics of Maharashtra well, and had even been MP from there, would he take up the job of the state’s Governor? Swamy, faced with a sudden prize post, hesitated for a while and said he needed time to ponder. However, after consulting friends, Swamy came to the conclusion that governorship is the end of all active politics, so it would be wiser to remain in the Rajya Sabha. Shah, for once, had to hear a ‘No’!

Maya’s About Turn

Posted on 25 June 2018 by admin

Bahujan Samaj Party boss Mayawati is suddenly turning her back on the Opposition unity. She has now shocked the allies by saying that BSP will not just go it alone in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly polls, but contest all the seats. Clearly, she will readily fetch BJP’s support. Scuttlebutt is that May had met Sonia Gandhi and demanded that BSP be given at least 25 seats in the coming Lok Sabha contest in 2019. She had offered that in lieu of that Congress contest in 10 seats in UP. Of the 25 seats she demanded, six would be from Madhya Pradesh, two from Gujarat, three from Maharashtra, Karnataka two, Rajasthan three and one seat each from Delhi and Chhattisgarh. But the Congress thinking was that BSP has little presence outside UP, so if it loses these 25 seats, that would be a boost to BJP. The Congress then asked Mayawati for some time to consider and then asked veteran war horse Kamal Nath to deal with her.

PM’s Shocker

Posted on 25 June 2018 by admin

Bihar CM Nitish Kumar recently had a half-hour meeting with Pm Narendra Modi, bulk of it on developmental issues. He then took up the issue of the annual apocalypse, the Bihar floods. He told the PM that the floods cause extensive damage to life and property, especially in North Bihar. He suggested, therefore that the central and state governments immediately set forth on the task of controlling the floods and limit the damages. It is learnt that the PM radially gave his consent. In this conducive atmosphere, Nitish found it opportune to then discuss some political issues. But Modi turned around and said, “You should discuss issue facing the country with me, so far as politics is concerned, talk to Amit Shah.” This sudden onslaught left Nitish a bit punch drunk, say sources.

Kamal Nath Fails

Posted on 25 June 2018 by admin

It is learnt that Congress veteran recently met BSP supremo Mayawati at her residence. First, Kamal Nath tried to create an informal atmosphere by addressing her as Maya and Mayawati, which mightily peeved the egotistic lady. Then Kamal Nath gave her a rude shock by stating that the Congress was willing to give BSP 14 seats in the coming Madhya Pradesh polls, whereas Mayawati’s demand had been as many as 50 seats. However, Mayawati still persisted and asked how many seats the Congress would give BSP in the 2019 general elections. But an evasive Kamal Nath said: “Ah, that you can discuss with Rahulji.” It is learnt that this finally triggered off Mayawati’s decision to contest all seats in Madhya Pradesh breaking the recent opposition honeymoon.

New Game in Bihar

Posted on 25 June 2018 by admin

Grapevine is that Sharad Yadav bumped into Amit Shah’s blue-eyed boy Bhupendra Yadav in an iftar party. Sharad sarcastically to Bhupendra: If you think Nitish Kumar will take you to Himalayan heights in Bihar you are mistaken, he will simply cut the grass from under your feet.” To this, Bhupendra coolly said: “Oh, don’t you worry. Nitish will soon be facing the same fate as yours.” It political overload was very clear!

How Goyal Got Finance

Posted on 25 June 2018 by admin

If sources are to be believed, Amit Shah and Modi had wanted to bless Piyush Goyal with the Finance Ministry a few years ago itself. But the moment an omnipotent BJP leader got wind of this, he got same very damaging stories against Goyal planted in the media that stumped Goyal. But Mr Omnipotent did not stop there. He dug out several instances of Goyal and his wife’s financial improprieties. However, the real player behind Goyal being Shah himself, the PMO was explained the nasty implications of one senior minister plotting openly against a colleague. Modi realised the game and anointed Goyal as Finance Minister. Scary Honeymoon

Posted on 25 June 2018 by admin

After the resounding victories in Kairana, and earlier, in Karnataka, the opposition parties have suddenly realised the value of unity. To the extent that even the once ferociously solo player, Mayawati too has been roped in. not long ago, ‘Bahenji’ had shut the door on the face of even Sonia Gandhi, but now she is seeing Congress as an ally. From behind the wings, Congress too is working on seat adjustments in Uttar Pradesh. The birds and bees in Lucknow hum and sing that of the 80 seats in UP, Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samajwadi Party will take 40 each. While BSP will share their 40 with the Congress, SP will do so with Ajit Singh’s Rashtriya Lok Dal. Sonia and Mayawati have in this context held a critical meeting. The Congress wants to contest 10 seats, including Amethi, Rae Bareli, Shahjahanpur, Barabanki, etc. At the moment, though BSP is playing a bit pricey. Mayawati is also wanting same seat share in the upcoming Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh state polls. And it is this new honeymoon that has become a scare for the BJP.
