Mulayam, the angry father

Posted on 29 December 2017 by admin

Dhumal’s hopeless hope

Posted on 29 December 2017 by admin

Prem Kumar Dhumal may have lost the assembly election from Sujanpur this time but till the last moment of the declaration of the next Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister, he did not give up. He kept on trying for himself and he kept talking about this directly with Modi and Shah. Sources say that, in fact, Dhumal had been deeply aware this time that if he surrendered so easily, then the political future of his son Anurag Singh Thakur would be a question mark. Anyway, his defeat from Sujanpur was unexpected because defeater Rajendra Rana of Congress was once amongst the devotees of Dhumal. Rana gradually made his entry into the houses of Sujanpur through his NGO. The NGO distributed sewing machines on a large scale to women and girls. The poor were given a permanent home. In the favor of Dhumal, Modi had himself organised an election rally.
On the other hand, in Dhumal’s Hamirpur, BJP could win only 3 out of 5 seats. Actually, the people of Hamirpur did not like the daily visit of police on account of BJP to the marriage of the then Congress chief minister Virbhadra Singh’s daughter. Perhaps, this is the reason why Virbhadra’s son Vikramaditya kept camping in Hamirpur during the entire time campaign.

Das’s Bala Favours

Posted on 29 December 2017 by admin

Four dissenting (read disgusted) MLAs of Jharkhand have taken their pile of complaints against state Chief Minister, Raghuvar Das, to the BJP high command, Amit Shah. They have alleged that the state government has shown an utter lack of political will and have forfeited all political powers to the state bureaucracy. They have told Shah that Das is fast losing his popularity and especially among the Brahmans as well as tribal communities. It is well known that the all powerful voice in the state is that of Chief Secretary Rajbala Verma, set to retire in coming February. However, Das seems hell bent on getting her an extension. The four MLAs met Shah, who is said to have heard their gripe carefully, and sent them back with an assurance that soon, things will change. Now, that is that most people are waiting for!

Quizzes time

Posted on 29 December 2017 by admin

Trinamool Congress MP and Mamata Didi’s personal handy boy in Delhi Derek O’Brien was a revered quiz master in his previous incarnation. Sometime back, he donned his quiz master gown once again, and threw a question at scribes covering Rajya Sabha: “Tell me, you see that plaque or A Anil Chandra on the front of the Sabha… so who will that be?” The flummoxed journos had no answer, so O’Brien gave them the answer: “It is Amit Shah!”

Dimensions of 2G politics

Posted on 29 December 2017 by admin

The Congress has got a new lease on life with the 2G verdict, whereas the political game of BJP has come out of curtain. Trusted sources suggest that the 2G scam case took a new turn when a declared row took shape between Revenue Secretary Hasmukh Adhia and ED chief Karnail Singh. Sources claim that the Center was pressurizing ED to slow down actions against Southern politicians on the radar of the ED. But ED wanted to maintain the speed of the strict action on the leaders and businessmen coming under the purview of money laundering. If one flips the pages of the 2G spectrum licenses case, CBI special court judge OP Saini had rejected the plea of BJP leader Subramanian Swamy on February 4, in which the former Finance and Home Minister P Chidambaram were to be taken into wraps. On February 2, 2017, this special court acquitted the Maran brothers, too. The court was initially scheduled to announce its verdict on October 25, 2017, but then judge Saini asked for some more time and the date was pushed further to November 7. On 7th, the judge fixed the date for December 5. In the meanwhile, the assembly elections of Gujarat and Himachal came round the corner and hence finally the verdict was pronounced on December 21. Interestingly, on November 6, the Prime Minister went to Chennai to hold a detailed meeting with DMK chief Karunanidhi. Mind it, that Karunanidhi’s daughter Kanimozhi and his wife Dayalu Ammal were accused in the 2G case. It should also be kept in mind that earlier the verdict on 2G case was scheduled to come on November 7. One more interesting fact is that Anil Ambani’s company ADAG was also under the traps of the scam. And Anil’s company has got the contract of Rafale Aircraft from the Ministry of Defense. In such a scenario, it was vital for Anil and his company to set free from the whole issue.

Rahul Baba’s Congress now under shelter of ‘Babas’

Posted on 29 December 2017 by admin

Rahul Gandhi, the brand new president of “Grand Old Party” Congress, wants to give a new dimension to his presidential shift. With his core team, he is not only making new strategies, but also bringing upfront some important challenges before Narendra Modi, on the back of which political scenario takes a rough turn. Rahul is happy that his ‘Soft Hindutva’ card was successful in Gujarat. Now he would like place the same bet in the coming Karnataka, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh assembly elections, too. His ‘sacred thread’ (Janeu) politics will hit a new high and he will go about bowing heads across temples. Ashok Gehlot, who is among the special trustees of Rahul, has been visiting some of the religion gurus and babas for quite some time now, who is on a declared fight against the BJP. Prior to the Gujarat assembly elections, Gehlot had approached Asaram Bapu through one of his special disciples, and asked of him to woo his thousands of followers, spread across Gujarat, in favour of the Congress party. Sources say that as soon as Amit Shah came to know of Gehlot’s approach, he immediately contacted Asaram appealing him not to take any wrong decisions in haste, and ensured that everything would be fine when the right time came. But, as the media calls him “Jhansaram”, Asaram is in loggerheads with the ruling party, and so his inclination is now more visible towards the Congress. Sources reveal that beside Asaram, Gehlot’s messengers are also in touch with Ram Rahim and Rampal. Apart from this, Congress is on a hunt for all those babas who are in some way or the other in loggerhead with the BJP. After Rahul’s presidential incarnation, whether the baba politics be able to connect the party with the Gods of vote-bank, will be a true test of the strengths and influences of those Babas.

RS TV Battle Ground

Posted on 19 December 2017 by admin

Not everything is hunky-dory between Rajya Sabha TV (RSTV), vice president Venkaiah Naidu and the CEO of Doordarshan Shashi Shekhar Vempati, who also happens to be the editor in chief of RS TV. This non-IAS officer wants a complete overhaul of the content and look-and-feel RS TV. This has ruffled Naidu’s feathers. Scuttlebutt is that Naidu wants his favourite Dr I V Subba Rao, a retired IAS officer currently serving the VP in his secretariat as the new editor-in-chief. Meanwhile the PMO itself has recently started jockeying for full control of RSTV. And this triangular contest is the reason that RSTV could not send its tem for coverage of the Gujarat polls. It had been decided earlier that the channel would send at least three to four camera teams for covering the polls. But the Sashi Shekhar-Rao tussle ensured that the teams could not finally go. And now the PMO is directly poaching on the channel.

Happy Behenji

Posted on 19 December 2017 by admin

The results of the local body polls has given the chance to BSP supremo Mayawati to return from the political wilderness. Just recently she convened a meeting of the party coordinators at her residence, and insiders revealed that for once, she looked happy. First she showered praises on the coordinators, and then they were asked for suggestions for the future course, that is the 2019 polls. What emerged as a consensus is that wherever the party had fanned Muslim sentiments, it got slapped on its face, so now, Muslim candidates for the party will be limited to Western Uttar Pradesh. It will be trying to woo back the forward castes in Bundelkhand, Poorvanchal and Central UP. Behenji also made it absolutely clear that it will not be a part of any grand alliance in 2019, and would field candidates on its own from every Lok Sabha seat in the state. She admitted, of course, that Akhilesh had made several advances for her to join such a Grand Alliance, but she had made no commitment. Behenji also fired a different salvo: those politicians who are suffocating inside BJP are most free to join the BSP.

Sops for Youth

Posted on 19 December 2017 by admin

The Gujarat polls have taught the saffron-brothers Modi and Shah some vital lessons. They realise now that a large section of the state’s youth are angry with the BJP. This was evident in their unprecedented presence in the poll meetings of Rahul, Hardik, Alpesh and Jignesh. Hence, the poll magician Modi has decided against any adventurism in the 2019 general elections. It is anyone’s guess that Modi will now try to think up several new schemes for unemployed youth in the country. It is also possible that there will be some big announcements for the National Employment Policy, whose main task is to ensure employment for youth. To improve the financial and social lot of the youth, the government is mulling bringing in a National Employment Policy. May be the government will give various kinds of boosts to medium and small scale enterprises, for which accessing loans from financial institutions may be made easier. The employment agency has recently told the government in a report that 30 per cent youth in the 15-30 age group lack proper training, forcing them to opt for low-paying jobs. China is far ahead of India in this regard. So clearly, the next budget will not just be packed with election sops, but could be dripping with concern for youth.
