Country’s newly-appointed Chief Vigilance Commissioner P J Thomas is still out on bail in the palmoline scam. He had appeared before the court on April 2, 2003 and the government had granted bail on his petition for the same. He was the civil supply secretary in Kerala back then. The investigation was being done by the Vigilance and Anti-corruption Bureau and he is the top man in the same organization today. Thomas had got this bail by the Court of Inquiry Commissioner and special judge (vigilance) in Thiruvanantapuram.
