Coalgate, FDI in retail, price rise in petro products…. Who does the prime minister trust the most in his core team at a time when there are new challenges facing him everyday? This is the core team to which the prime minister pays most heed – they are the eyes, nose and ears for the prime minister. These include Montek Singh Ahluwalia, TKA Nair, P Chidambaram and Pulak Chatterjee. (Kapil Sibal is no longer a part of the core team and so in the next Cabinet reshuffle, the human resources ministry may be taken away from him). The quartet has, for now, full control over PM’s heart and mind.
